Microsoft have announced after the 13th of October 2020 they will end support for Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac. This means they will no longer offer technical support, security updates or bug fixes. While both productivity packages will still operate after the date, a huge problem for businesses still using them is that they will not have security updates applied. This will leave them vulnerable to a number of malicious software applications aimed at stealing data and disrupting services. Apart from the security risk there will also be problems with compatibility for anyone using Microsoft online services such as Onedrive or Sharepoint.
Users of these online services will not actively be disconnected but no attempt will be made to accommodate access after October 2020.
All businesses, especially those subject to privacy compliance regulations should take immediate action to update or migrate to a more current version of the productivity suite. If you are holding customers data not actioning this could lead to a serious breach of regulations. Continuing to operate out of date and non-supported software is irresponsible and leaves your clients at risk of data theft. City Communications offers the full range of Microsoft 365 or if you prefer the non subscription model we also offer Microsoft Office Professional packages.
We always recommend Microsoft 365 to stay updated with the latest software versions and security updates.
